Raidih block is situated at the border of Jharkhand and Chhatisgarh state at about 15 KM from district headquarters Gumla.  Palkot Block at its East, Chhatisgarh state at the west, Chainpur block at the North and Simdega district at its southern border surround it. It is situated at 20o56’ North and 84o28’ East. This is tribes dominated block. Agriculture is the chief occupation of the villagers. There are many Dams and chekdams but they are not in use. Farmers depend on Monsoon for irrigation. So only KHARIF crops are cultivated. Agriculture land measure to 16303 Hectare. The chief crops are Paddy, Marua, Gora, Urad etc. There are many KUTTIR UDYOG running with the help of block administration. Basudevkona which has importance of Tourism is situated at 3 KM from block headquarter. Hiradah one of the most beautiful picnic spot is situated at the Kobja Panchayat . SANKHGHAT is also famous for picnic spot.
